Don LaFontaine was an American actor, producer, and director.

He was best known as the master of voiceovers and commentary in movie trailers. Donald Leroy LaFontaine was born on August 26, 1940, in Duluth, Minnesota, USA, to parents Alfred and Rabi LaFontaine.

At the age of thirteen, his voice underwent a mutation, acquiring a distinctive bass tone that would shape his entire career.

After completing school, Don LaFontaine joined the US Army and worked as a recording engineer.

This experience helped him secure a job in radio in New York City after his service in 1962. He worked with producer Floyd Peterson, who advised Don to try his luck in the film industry.

In 1964, his voice was first heard in the Western film "Gunfighters of Casa Grande." Following this, MGM signed a contract with him, launching his career as a voiceover artist.
